The box does just what it is supposed to do. How would the first box available be the more evolved of the two? There is no 'last' button nor a 'favorite' button. To see what the other stations are pulling in you have to go into the menu which then mutes the sound. The other big problem is the options on the remote. The signal is terrible even though I'm using the same antennae that used to perform pretty well. The first problem is that you cannot connect component cables so the picture is junk. It was also Insignia so I bought it having had a decent experience with the first. Connecting to a VCR proved troublesome, as you had to have the VCR the converter, and the TV on in order to watch TV at all. You MUST get a high quality POWERED antenna, and your cables MUST be of top quality in order to make the thing work. This new Insignia wasn't quite as capable as that old Insignia Digital Converter, but was better than RCA, and a few other off brands I bought for myself, and also my brother. The second DTV converter doesn't indiscriminately display a info box, but it is very difficult to change channels, (pressing a button can turn the box off, or the box will be slow to respond, or won't respond at all, ) seldom displays relevant information about shows you're watching, (information from earlier in the evening will still be displayed 6 hours later, ) and doesn't allow you to return to previously viewed channels, (you have to scroll through every channel or manually enter the channel.) Check mark the 'Recognize Daylight Savings Time' box for the most accurate time, if applicable. Of course results depend on where you are located but I do find that this converter offers more in configuration. I paired this with the same brand basic antenna and find stronger results than with the RCA brand. When flipping channels it displays what program is on and underneath it lists the program that is coming up next. The the volume button on the remote (for the converter) actually works (it didn't work with RCA)! Lower the volume on your tv remote and raise the volume on the converter remote for crisper sound.

I can get ION and QVC/ other shopping channels as well as Bounce TV.
